About Nora Campos

Nora Campos is a lifelong East San José resident whose story reflects the hopes, challenges, and resilience of the community she has always called home. Raised in the Cassell neighborhood, Nora grew up in a working‑class family that taught her the value of hard work, public service, and standing up for others. She attended William C. Overfelt High School and later earned her degree from San Francisco State University, carrying with her a deep commitment to giving back to the neighborhoods that shaped her.

Nora’s career in public service began at the local level, where she served on the San José City Council representing District 5. In that role, she focused on delivering tangible improvements to East San José — securing funding for parks and youth spaces, strengthening public safety resources, improving transit access, and advocating for infrastructure investments long overlooked by City Hall. Her leadership was rooted in listening to residents and fighting to ensure East San José received its fair share of city resources.

She later served in the California State Assembly, where she became a respected leader and rose to Speaker Pro Tempore. At the State Capitol, Nora fought for working families, children, and seniors — authoring and supporting legislation on paid family leave, wage equity, youth protections, and housing. Throughout her tenure, she earned a reputation as an independent voice who was unafraid to challenge powerful interests when policies threatened fairness, transparency, or the well‑being of everyday people.

Across every role she has held, Nora Campos has been guided by the same principle: government should work for the people, not special interests. She has consistently stood up for city workers, taxpayers, renters, and small businesses, even when it meant standing alone. Her record reflects both compassion and accountability — delivering results while demanding integrity from government.

Today, Nora continues to live in East San José and remains deeply connected to its neighborhoods, families, and small businesses. She is running for City Council to bring experienced, principled leadership back to City Hall — leadership that understands the community, listens to residents, and delivers real results. Nora Campos believes East San José deserves safety, affordability, opportunity, and a government that never forgets who it serves.
